SNOWY ENGAGEMENT SESSION | BIG COTTONWOOD CANYON || BRIAN + ERIN

Snowy Engagement Session in Big Cottonwood Canyon.

Ok, I have photographed up Big Cottonwood SO MANY TIMES, even in the winter, and NEVER have I seen it have this much snow! It was insane!! Thank heavens that Brian has a big nice truck that we used to drive up the canyon. By the time we got to the top of the canyon, the snow piled on the side of the road was higher than the truck. I could not believe it. Right when we got there, too, the wind was blowing like crazy AND it was snowing quite a bit. We decided that it was probably better to just drive around and hop out for a few minutes at a time to try and stay warm and find places that helped block the wind just a little bit. We also had to be careful about where we stepped because if we didn’t step on packed snow, we would just fall right in! So it was a little tricky, but it actually ended up perfectly. We found great spots and got some awesome photos.

We ended up shooting at both Silver Lake and Jordan Pines. Both spots are super pretty and have lots of pine trees, which are my favorite. I actually think that Big Cottonwood Canyon is my favorite canyon for pine trees. They are easily accessible, too! Jordan Pines right now does still have a lot of snow, and honestly, there will probably be a ton of snow the rest of the season!

Erin and Brian’s outfits could not be more perfect for the snow and pine trees! Erin’s rust sweater and emerald green dress were SO PRETTY!!! I would not have changed a thing about it, and they were both such champs with the cold!! Between this and Jacob + Elysa’s anniversary session, snowy engagement sessions are quickly becoming a favorite of mine.
